FACCE-JPI announces results of Scientific Advisory Board Election
FACCE-JPI is pleased to announce the results of the 2024 Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) election. Representatives from 14 countries, surpassing the minimum voting threshold, participated in selecting eight new members to join the SAB for an initial term of three years. These members, experts in diverse fields relevant to agriculture, food security, and climate change, will provide critical scientific guidance to FACCE-JPI initiatives.
The Elected Members:
Animal Sciences/Livestock Systems:
- Prof. Dr. med. vet. Christa Kühn, President of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (Germany), specializes in disease resistance, genome analysis, and molecular genetics in farmed animals.
Food Systems:
- Dr. Francesca Galli, Associate Professor at the University of Pisa (Italy), focuses on food and nutrition security, sustainability, and food value chain performance.
Social Sciences:
- Professor Minna Kaljonen, Research Professor at the Finnish Environment Institute (Finland), is an expert in sustainable food systems, environmental governance, and socio-economic transitions.
Science-Policy:
- Dr. Sébastien Treyer, Executive Director at IDDRI (France), specializes in sustainability transitions, foresight, and international negotiations.
Pathways to Impact/Transformative Change:
- Mr. Dieter Cuypers, Action Researcher at VITO Nexus (Belgium), applies systems thinking to sustainable land use and climate change adaptation.
Climate:
- Professor Marco Bindi, Professor at the University of Florence (Italy), works on climate change impacts, crop models, and mitigation strategies.
Water:
- Eng. Martin Kováč, Principal Advisor at Water Holistic Ltd. (Slovakia), focuses on water management, policy harmonization, and the water-soil-climate nexus.
Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) of Greenhouse Gases:
- Dr. Harry Clark, Chief Scientist at the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre, is an authority on livestock systems and GHG mitigation.
The newly elected members will join the SAB's efforts to address critical challenges in sustainable agriculture and climate resilience.
